A few of our reservations team members embarked on an educational trip to the Erongo Region. Here they were able to explore and see the region’s great landscape as well as visit a number of accommodation establishments within the area.

Here’s their experience as told by Mischke Visser one of our tour consultants.

The group took a spectacular scenic drive to the Spitzkoppen en route between Usakos and Swakopmund in the Namib Desert. The team was mystified by the 20 million-year-old bald granite peaks surround the area.

Our first establishment stopover was at the Spitzkoppen Lodge. The lodge is perfectly positioned in between the huge granite boulders offering guests stylish, private accommodation which consists of 15 spacious, and tastefully furnished chalets, each with private bathroom and outside viewing deck, which connects the guest with the vast stretches of untouched sand and boulders beyond.

Our next stopovers were the Hohenstein Lodge which offers beautiful views from all rooms of the Hohenstein Mountain and the Omandumba Guest Farm & Bush Camp that offers spacious rooms and deliciously fresh vegetable served right from their garden.

Next, we visited the Erongo Wilderness Lodge, Etendero Guest Farm, Epako Lodge and the Ai Aiba Rockpainting Lodge where we were treated to a breath-taking sundowner drive and spent the evening.

The following day we were warmly welcomed by the team at the Erongo Mountains Winery. The Winery specializes in wines, spirits and a cream liqueur made from indigenous Namibian herbs and fruits.  The winery also boasts a stunning tasting room, open Monday to Saturday from  09:00 am to 5:00pm. We would definitely recommend that our guests visit the winery en route to or from the Namibian coast.

Our last set of accommodation facilities visited were the Omaruru Guesthouse, Kashana Guesthouse, Omaruru Game Lodge and the Ozongwindi Lodge. All of which offer great lodging facilities for group, individual and family travelers.

This educational was a great learning tool for all of us in attendance. We were able to reorient ourselves with the establishment available within the region and gained more insight to part of the Namibian travel terrain.
