Travel Alert: Mandatory Online Traveller Declaration Effective 1 July 2026 – South Africa
Dear Valued Customer,
As of 1 July 2026, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) requires all travellers entering or departing South Africa to complete a mandatory online Traveller Declaration before travelling. This declaration forms part of the Customs process and allows travellers to meet their legal obligation to declare goods, currency, and any other relevant items being brought into or taken out of South Africa.
Boulders Penguin Colony Sees Best Breeding Season in Years
The Boulders Penguin Colony near Simon’s Town, Cape Town has recorded its strongest breeding season in years. Home to an estimated 2,528 African penguins, it remains one of Cape Town’s top wildlife attractions, with visitors able to see nesting adults, fluffy chicks and penguins returning from the sea. While the species remains critically endangered, the increase is a positive sign that conservation efforts are making a difference.
Table Mountain Cableway Closed for Annual Maintenance (27 July – 9 August 2026)
The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway will be closed for annual maintenance from 27 July to 9 August 2026. No cable car services will operate during this period. The Cableway is scheduled to reopen on 10 August 2026, weather permitting.
