Kenya Finance Bill Demonstrations Update
In an apparent concession to the protests, the President of Kenya declined to sign the highly contentious Finance Bill 2024 and returned it to Parliament. While there were sporadic, small-scale cases of protests reported in some parts of the country yesterday, the protests appear to have dwindled, and calm & normalcy have reportedly returned to the country. We are diligently tracking ongoing events and continue taking steps to guarantee the safety of our clients.
Major Upgrade Planned For Nairobi’s International Airport
Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) is set for a major facelift. Under the new plans, a terminal capable of handling 20 million passengers annually will be constructed, with work set to commence later this year for completion by 2025/26. Terminal 1E will also undergo refurbishment.
AirAsia X Launches Nairobi Route
AirAsia X has unveiled plans to launch flights between Kuala Lumpur and Nairobi starting November 15. Reportedly having secured traffic rights from the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) in April, the airline is poised to offer up to seven weekly flights on this route from October.
Uganda Airlines To Launch Direct Flights To London
Uganda Airlines is set to commence direct flights between Entebbe and London. The inaugural flight date is pending final certifications from UK and European aviation authorities.
