Tanzania: Commencement Of Mandatory Entry of Visitor’s Particulars
Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) has announced that, effective July 1, 2025, all licensed tour operators and agents operating in Tanzania who arrange or accompany guests to any National Park must input specific visitor information into the TANAPA online reservation and payment system at the time of payment.
The required details include: Full name, Passport number, Nationality, Age and Gender. These details must be entered exactly as they appear on the visitor’s passport. We kindly request that when making bookings for your clients, you ensure that all of the above information is provided accurately and in full accordance with their passport details.
Air Tanzania To Launch Johannesburg – Zanzibar Flights
Air Tanzania will launch twice-weekly flights between Johannesburg and Zanzibar from June 10 2025. The service will operate on a triangular route with the return flight going via Dar es Salaam.
Uganda Airlines’ Gatwick Service Takes Off
Uganda Airlines, on May 18 2025, operated its inaugural Entebbe International Airport-London Gatwick Airport direct flight using the airline’s Airbus A330-800neo, making the airline the first carrier to operate the aircraft into London Gatwick.
Tanzania Freezes Fees, Unlocks Park Funds
Tanzania has rolled out a range of measures aimed at stimulating tourism, including a freeze on national park fees and an increase in budget allocated to tourism, among other initiatives. The Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) has confirmed that national park entry fees will remain unchanged for at least the next 12 months. The announcement was made by Assistant Conservation Commissioner Jully Lyimo during a stakeholder briefing in the UK on March 17th, 2025.
Kenya Kickstarts Rhino Translocation Initiative
The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and the Zeitz Foundation launched a rhino translocation initiative to the Segera Conservancy in Laikipia on May 24th, 2025. The project, officiated by Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Rebecca Miano, will see 21 eastern black rhinos moved to the 200 square kilometre conservancy with the goal of creating one of the largest connected rhino ranges in the world.
