We have some interesting insights about the best time to travel to Victoria Falls from our lodge partner Chundukwa River Lodge, who are located along the mighty Zambezi river and 25kms from Livingstone Town,, Zambia.  Here is an answer to the most asked question from their perspective;

” In the travel industry, we’re all familiar with the question.
‘What’s the best time to visit Victoria Falls?’ 

In our opinion, there’s no real “best” time – as it fully depends on what the travelers are hoping to do, see and experience. One travelers’ “best time” might not necessarily be the next.  So we will answer it like this…

The best time to visit Victoria Falls in High Water flow is NOW between March and May, right after our summer rains. At its peak flow, up to 540 million cubic meters per minute cascades over the edge, producing towering mist clouds visible from miles away and spectacular rainbows by day. If guests time their visit around the full moon, we can take them to try and witness the rare “Moonbow,” a lunar rainbow created by moonlight refracting through the mist. Visitors can expect to get drenched at Zambian viewpoints like Knife-Edge Bridge, where the spray is inescapable but adds to the exhilarating experience! To raincoat, or not to raincoat. That is the question!

While activities like Devil’s Pool and certain white-water rapids may not be available over this season, helicopter and microlight flights provide breathtaking aerial views of the roaring falls, the lush rainforest, and the vast Zambezi River. One challenge for travellers is that peak water flow at Victoria Falls doesn’t align with the best safari season – and so, visiting in June or July might offer the best balance between falls viewing and wildlife sightings.
