Tanzania Launches International Tourist Center To Spur Tourism

Tanzania has launched an international tourist center at the Serengeti National Park aimed at promoting the East African nation’s tourist attractions and making it a global tourist destination. The information on all the country’s 22 national parks and 29 game reserves will be available at the center, said Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism Mohamed Mchengerwa during the launch of the center, urging tourism stakeholders to support the government in its endeavors to make Tanzania a global tourist destination.

Zanzibar Flights Start April 2023

FlySafair has announced the launch date of its Zanzibar flights. This, its most recent regional route, is between OR Tambo (JNB) and Abeid Amani Karume International airport (ZNZ) in Zanzibar. Starting from April 8, FlySafair will offer a weekly return flight, and there is potential for a second weekday flight to be added to the schedule at a later date.  For now, the weekly return is scheduled for Saturdays with airfares starting from R2 950 (€152) one way.

Luxury Lodge To Open In Maasai Mara

The JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge is set to welcome guests from April 1. JW Marriott forms part of Marriott Bonvoy’s global portfolio of 30 hotel brands. The lodge will mark the brand’s very first luxury safari lodge and will be located within the Masai Mara National Reserve in southwestern Kenya – one of Africa’s most renowned wildlife conservation and wilderness regions. The lodge will feature 20 private tents, including a Honeymoon tented suite with a private plunge pool and two interconnecting canopied suites, each with a private terrace and Jacuzzi.

‘Very Special’ African Wild Dog Sighting In Kenya

The photographic hide at Saruni Samburu lodge in Kenya is ideal for getting up close to the wildlife that comes to the waterhole for a drink, and recent guest, Jemima Scrase, captured an amazing video of some curious African wild dogs. It is estimated that there are only 6 600 African wild dogs left in the world. They have been on the endangered list for over 20 years. “With the numbers of the wild dog still very low, especially in northern Kenya, this is a very special sighting,” according to Scrase.
