TANAPA Responds Swiftly To Safety Breach At Serengeti’s Kogatende Crossing Point
On 21st July 2025, video footage and stills circulated on social media depicting tourists disembarking from safari vehicles at Kogatende area crossing point site number four (4), a strictly forbidden area under Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) rules. TANAPA rangers stationed at the Kogatende outpost promptly responded to the incident instructing tourists to return to their vehicles, reaffirming that disembarking in that location is a violation of established procedures. Exiting safari vehicles in unauthorized zones disrupts wildlife movements and poses significant safety risks. Lion, leopard, and other predators often accompany wildebeest migration, making such actions potentially life threatening for tourists.

Auric Air Inclusion On EU Safety List
The European Union has recently made the decision to temporarily restrict all airlines certified by the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) from operating within EU airspace. While Auric Air does not operate direct scheduled services to or from Europe, this development may raise concerns among the airline’s partners, clients, and stakeholders, particularly those involved in international travel and tourism. The airline would like to clarify that this inclusion is not a reflection of Auric Air’s individual safety or operational standards, nor of those of any specific Tanzanian operator. Rather, the restriction was applied at a national level, based solely on the country of certification. Auric Air is fully certified by the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), a recognized member of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). In addition to the airline’s national certification, it maintains internationally respected safety credentials, including the Flight Safety Foundation’s Basic Aviation Risk Standard (BARS) accreditation and the IATA Standard Safety Assessment (ISSA) certification.

Kibale is best known for its chimpanzees but also supports a stable population of grey parrots. These birds have been heavily impacted by the illegal pet trade across West and Central Africa. The museum, founded by Nick Byaba in collaboration with Brown University in the US, features themed exhibits on endangerment, the natural history of grey parrots, the threats they face and ongoing local conservation efforts. Bilingual displays in English and Rutooro highlight regional history and conservation initiatives.
